A pimple sometimes manifests when impurities accumulate in a hair follicle and migrate into the layer of skin under the epidermis after the hair follicle bursts. When this happens, pus develops under the skin and forms a pimple. Pimples are considered unattractive, and one pimple can lead to more. Learn how you can prevent pimples from showing up on your skin.

Treat Skin Gently

Wash your face in the morning and at night and whenever sweat builds up on your skin. Use a gentle cleansing agent, and be gentle when cleansing your skin so you do not stimulate the oil glands and cause them to produce more oil that can result in pimples. Keep things away from your skin that press on or rub against it.

Use Oil-Free Skin and Hair Products

Make it a point to use oil-free makeup and sunscreen products, especially if you have oily skin. Just as too much oil produced under the skin can cause pimples, oil put on the skin can encourage pimples as well. Use oil-free hair conditioner so the oil from your hair product does not go on your skin and create a pimple. Keep your hair clean at all times to prevent the oils from going on your face.

Take Measures to Alleviate Stress

Do what you can to prevent stress from affecting your skin. A pimple is a common byproduct of stress. Do things you find calming. Listen to music, dance, draw, paint, read or write. Inhale aromatherapy oils such as lavender, exercise daily, take a vacation break or work in your garden if you find that connecting with nature calms your nerves.

Cleanse Your System

Sip plenty of water throughout the day to cleanse your body. Eight 8-oz. glasses is sufficient. Drink a variety of fruit juices and vegetable juices. Have massage or reflexology treatments to help with the cleansing process. Both of these therapies work to release toxins from the body.

Keep Your Hands Off Your Face

Do not touch your face, unless you are washing it, applying oil-free moisturizer or spreading on oil-free suntan lotion. The oils from the skin on your hands transfer to your face when you touch it, so avoid touching your face as much as possible.
