During your strength workout, it can be easy to overlook your hands. Strengthening the muscles of your hand will help you in numerous areas of your every day life, from opening jars to developing an impressive handshake. Luckily, many of the exercise equipment designed to strengthen your hand can be used outside the gym. Consider keeping one of these hand exercise tools in your desk at work and use it during your downtime.

Latex Rubber Ring

IndoorClimbing.com recommends using a latex rubber ring if you're looking to improve your grip and increase the strength of your fingers. You should be able to hold the latex ring in your hand. You can exercise the individual fingers by using them to put pressure on the ring or you can exercise your entire hand by squeezing the ring to increase the strength of your grip.

Tennis Ball

If you don't have a latex rubber ring, a simple tennis ball will do. Hold the tennis ball in your hand and squeeze to improve your grip. Like the ring, you can work out individual fingers by exerting pressure on the ball one finger at a time.

Weight Plates

You can increase the strength of your hands by using simple weight plates that you'd find at the gym. You can increase your pinching strength using this equipment. Pick two plates of equal size and weight and pinch them between your thumb and fingers. Hold the weights together for as long as you can and repeat this three times with each hand. Pinching the weight of this equipment strengthens all the fingers, including the thumb.

Gripper

Bodybuilding.com also recommends obtaining a gripper if you want to develop hand strength. These tools develop what is known as crushing grip. The gripper, which is usually made of metal, can provide different levels of resistance. They consist of a lever like tool that you hold in one hand and squeeze closed. Once you close it, it will spring back open and you can repeat the motion to build strength.
