San Francisco is an exciting city to visit and explore. The surrounding bay provides a number of different activities that allow for panoramic city views and fun exploration. Kayaking San Francisco Bay or taking a sail tour are among the more popular visitor activities. Bike tours and fishing are other great ways to soak it all up in the "City by the Bay."
Bike Tours
Bay City Bike Rentals and Tours is conveniently located in the historical Fisherman's Wharf and offers guided and self-guided bike rental tours. One of the most popular tours crosses the Golden Gate Bridge and explores the coastal area across the bay from San Francisco. Other tours take bikers by Golden Gate Park, the Japanese Tea Gardens and the Arboretum. Bay City Bike includes everything needed for a fun biking tour experience, including helmets and maps.
Kayaking
Paddling through the bay is a great way to see the city from new angles. Guided trips include destinations like Alcatraz and the Bay and Golden Gate Bridges. Baseball fans can also make an excursion to McCovey Cove behind AT&T Park, home of the San Francisco Giants. Kayaks can seat one or two people and can be rented by the hour or full day. Canoes are also rented. City Kayak includes all safety equipment like life jacket, wetsuit or paddling jacket, splash pants and safety kit.
Sport Fishing
Flash Sport Fishing offers half-day and full-day fishing tours and takes passengers around the bay area for some panoramic views of the city. Fishing trips include all the necessary equipment, from rods to bait, as well as complimentary snacks and drinks. Fishers are responsible for providing their own fishing license and meals. On-board fishing seminars are available for beginners.
Ice Skating and Bowling
The Yerba Buena Center gives winter sport enthusiasts the chance to strap on their skates and hit the rink. Daily public skating sessions are available, as well as figure skating lessons and hockey leagues. An on-site pro shop has all the necessary equipment. The center also features a bowling alley. Lanes are open beginning at noon during the week and 10 a.m. on weekends.
Sailing Tours
There is perhaps no better way to experience San Francisco than from a sailboat traversing the bay. Mission Creek Sail Tours offers private charters for sailing beginners and veterans alike. Passengers can participate as much or as little in the sailing experience as they like. All sail tours include beer, wine, soft drinks and hors d'oeuvres. Sample tours include wine tasting cruises, romantic sunset sails and bay racing.
