There are many factors that can influence your weight; these include your height, your build, your gender and your age. Most of these factors are beyond your control but some aren't. Your body composition can be changed, your muscle mass, your general body fat as well how much water is in your system. To shed 20 pounds quickly you must stick to a strict diet and exercise regimen.
Diet
An average person requires 2,500 to 3,000 calories a day to remain at his weight. To lose weight you have to create a calorie deficit--you have to burn more calories than you eat. Lowering your calorie intake will help you lose weight quickly. However, do not lower your calorie intake to less than 1,500 calories a day. One lb. of fat is equal to 3,500 calories. If you would like to lose 2 lbs. a week you have to create a 1,000 calorie deficit daily. It is not recommended that you lose more than 2 lbs. a week, as this could cause health problems.
Diuretics
Some of your body weight is caused by unnecessary fluid retention. To get rid of the unnecessary water in your system avoid salt and salty foods. The more salt you eat the more fluid your body retains. You can also rid yourself of excess water by consuming diuretic foods. Asparagus, artichoke, cucumber, melon and watercress are all natural diuretics.
Aerobic Exercise
Aerobic exercise will help you lose weight fast. Twenty minutes into your workout session your body begins to break down fat. A moderate aerobic workout burns an average of 300 calories in 1/2 an hour. Aerobic exercise also speeds up your metabolism giving you more energy and preventing more calories from being stored as fat. Running. swimming and dancing are all aerobic exercises.
