Exercises for the face and neck can help to prevent sagging jaw lines and chins, drooping cheeks and double chins. Still, plenty of individuals forget to exercise their faces, even if they exercise every day. Make facial exercises part of your daily exercise routine for a more youthful, fresh appearance. If you already have jowls or a double chin, do these exercises several times a day for results within a few weeks.
Lift Your Head and Chew
Stand with your shoulders and neck relaxed. Lift the chin toward the ceiling, keeping your lips pressed lightly together. Then, pretend you're chewing a mouthful of gum, keeping the chin lifted toward the ceiling the entire time. Chew between 20 and 50 times and then lower your head and relax. You can do this exercise three or four times several times a day. This exercise will help to firm the jaw line and will help to get rid of a double chin, according to Dermaxime.
Stick Your Tongue Out
Stand in front of a mirror if you wish, to see your neck, jaw and throat muscles working with this exercise. Lifting the chin toward the ceiling, open the mouth slightly and stick out your tongue, turning it downward as if trying to touch the tip of your tongue to your chin. Some of you may be able to do this. If you can't, it's okay. Hold the contraction with the tongue extended for between three to five seconds and then retract your tongue and lower your head to a normal position. Repeat this exercise five to 10 times, several times a day, for optimal results.
Jowl Lift
Place the pads of the fingers of each hand along your jaw line, with your little finger approximately even with the corners of your mouth, touching the jaw line. Pull slightly downward with the fingers and then smile big. If you're doing this correctly, you should feel a slight pull or resistance against your fingers as you smile, suggests Erupting Mind. Relax. Repeat this exercise about 20 times two to three times a day.
Jowl Rubbing
Stand in front of a mirror, suggests Carolyn Cleaves of Carolyn's Facial Fitness Program. Place the fingers of your left hand on your left jaw. Then, tilt the head slightly backward and try to lift your bottom lip over your top lip. This may take some concentration for beginners. Holding that position, turn your head slightly to the left while closing your left eye tightly. At the same time, rub your fingers along your jaw line, from the mouth to the side of the jaw toward your ear. Relax. Repeat this exercise five times and then switch and repeat on the other side.
