While Atlantic City is mostly known for its fun and attractions during the summer, the city also offers plenty to do during the wintertime. Atlantic City is widely known for its casinos, gambling and shows held at the local clubs and casinos. However, even if you plan to visit Atlantic City during the colder months, don't be discouraged--there's plenty to do.
The Boardwalk
Don't underestimate the boardwalk. Just because it's a major hub of activity during the summer doesn't mean that it can't offer plenty to do in the winter. Just take a stroll down the five miles of boardwalk and enjoy the view of the ocean during the winter. You will find plenty of small shops and places to eat along the way.
Shopping
The Atlantic City boardwalk offers plenty of shopping experiences. Stop in at The Pier Shops at Caesar, with dozens of places to shop, eat and watch shows. The Walk, located in the heart of Atlantic City, offers dozens of outlet shops and places to eat.
Attractions
Check out one of Atlantic City's main attractions--the Atlantic City Aquarium. While strolling through the aquarium, you will see the famous 25,000 gallon-tank that features a plethora of fish from the mid-Atlantic. Visit the shark and fish touch tank or take in the exotic animals on display.
Check out the famous Ripley's Believe It or Not Museum that features plenty of strange and unusual exhibits that will entertain people of all ages. Make sure you also visit the Steel Pier, which is a 1,000-foot-long pier that features roller coasters, entertainment, food and much more.
Educational Experiences
For those who desire an educational touch to their visit to Atlantic City, check out the Historical Museum, which offers old photographs, artifacts, costumes, posters and even Miss America memorabilia. The museum also has exhibits that tell of Atlantic City's history and its landmarks.
The Casinos
The famed casinos of Atlantic City are open year round. Get in out of the cold and enjoy what the casinos have to offer. The casinos offer much more than just gambling. They offer shows and shopping as well.
Sports and Recreation
On a nice winter day, take in a round of golf on one of the city's courses. Also be sure to attend one of the many sports tournaments that occur during the winter. Atlantic City is the host to two of college's major sports tournaments--the Atlantic Ten Men's basketball championships and the ECAC Hockey Tournament. These tournaments are held at Atlantic City's historic Boardwalk Hall.
