Your face has more than 10 bones and 12 muscles. Each muscle begins to droop as you age, causing wrinkles and fine lines to become more pronounced. Additionally, hormonal changes, free-radical damage, slackened facial muscles or reduced collagen production can cause the skin on your face to age. Combine facial exercises with an anti-aging skin care plan to reduce the appearance of wrinkles.

Cheeks

Use the cheek raiser exercise to help prevent premature aging of the sides of your face. This exercise tightens and tones your cheeks. Tilt your head up and place your three middle fingers on the tops of your cheeks. Press down while smiling as hard as you can--your cheek muscles should be pushing against your fingers.

Forehead

Put your index fingers just below your eyebrows. Use your fingers to pull down on your eyes while raising your eyebrows. This exercise will help firm your forehead and reduce wrinkles.

Double Chin

Sit straight in a chair or on the floor. Tilt your head up so you are looking at the ceiling. Close your lips and keep your mouth relaxed. Round your lips and count to 20. Relax and return to the starting position.

Neck

This exercise helps tighten the muscles of your neck. Sit up straight with your face relaxed. Tilt your head up so you are looking at the ceiling. Close your lips, but keep them relaxed. Stretch your bottom lip over your top lip as far as possible and hold for 10 seconds. Relax and repeat 10 times.

Jowls

Stand in front of a mirror. Relax your face and place the index finger from both hands on either side of your mouth. Pull gently outward with your fingers. Keep your movements consistent and smooth. Remove your fingers while maintaining your smile.

Mouth

This exercise will help reduce fine lines and wrinkles next to your mouth. Lift one side of your mouth, working as hard as you can to pull that side of your mouth up into a half smile. Switch sides.
