The city of Anaheim is located in Southern California, just 25 miles southeast of Los Angeles. It has a population of almost 350,000 and is home to famous residents such as actor Chuck Norris, NFL player Brian Noble and singer Gwen Stefani. The city is popular with tourists due to attractions such as Disneyland Resort, Anaheim GardenWalk and Adventure City. There are also many other activities to choose from in the Anaheim area including parks, shopping facilities and golf courses.

Theme Parks

Anaheim is home to the Disneyland Resort, which features two of the most famous theme parks in the world. Visitors to Anaheim can plan an entire vacation just inside the resort, which can include lodging and meals as well as passes to Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure. When you're not in a park, you can tour Downtown Disney, a free shopping and entertainment center with attractions for all ages. Park tickets can also be purchased separately. Hours of operation change monthly and can vary for each park.

Golf

Anaheim has a great selection of golf courses for those who love the sport. From miniature golf for the whole family at Camelot Golf Land, to more sophisticated facilities with championship courses and a clubhouse at the Dad Miller Golf Course, Anaheim has something for everyone. Another option is the Islands Golf Center, which features a lighted driving range, a putting green, a chip and pitch area, golf instructions and even loaner clubs at no additional charge.

Shopping

Shopping is a popular activity and Anaheim offers the perfect opportunity for it at Anaheim GardenWalk, featuring a variety of outdoor retail shops, restaurants and entertainment such as a movie theater and a bowling lounge. Some businesses include the Cigar Den, Harley-Davidson of Anaheim, Hollister, Sunglass Hut, Red Apparel, Madison Fine Jewelers and the Lux Avenda Salon and Spa.

Parks

Parks provide a vast array of recreational activities to choose from, and there are many of them around the Anaheim area including Pio Pico State Historic Park in Whittier, Alamitos Bay State Park in Long Beach and Chino Hills State Park in Brea. Some attractions at these types of facilities include hiking and nature trails, campsites, RV hookups, horseback riding and biking trails. Pio Pico State Historic Park also features a 19th century adobe made from sun-dried bricks and offers public tours of the facility.

Zoos

The Santa Ana Zoo just outside of Anaheim has been providing entertainment to visitors since 1952. Attractions include a large barnyard with farm animals, the Zoofari Express Train Rides, Colors of the Amazon Aviary, the Conservation Carousel and many favorites such as big cats, primates, reptiles and bears. The zoo is open year-round except for Christmas and New Year's Day, and offers special rates for groups.
