Approximately 85 percent of women have cellulite, according to Women's Health Magazine. The unsightly, cottage cheese-like appearance of cellulite is caused by poor diet, an inactive lifestyle and age, and typically appears around the age of 30. Combining good eating habits with a workout program that features both strength training and cardio activity will help build muscle and get rid of cellulite.

Squat Jumps

This updated twist on the conventional squat exercise helps target cellulite and melt fat. Hold a dumbbell in each hand above your shoulders, palms facing in. Set your feet hip-width apart and flex your stomach muscles. Straighten your spine and push your hips back as you sink down, keeping your chest lifted. When your knees reach a 90-degree angle, tighten your abdominal muscles, swing your arms overhead and jump as high as you can, pushing your heels into the ground so you are using your quad and glute muscles to jump. As you land, bend your knees and sink back down into the squat position.

Modified Shoulder Stand

This upside-down yoga exercise helps move your bodily fluid through your fatty areas, flushing toxins to help reduce cellulite. Lie face up with your arms resting by your sides. Bend your knees and left your legs up to the ceiling, pulling your knees to your forehead. At the same time, position your hands under your hips. Anchor your elbows to the floor and hold this position for 10 breaths. Slowly relax and roll back to the starting position.

Seated Bridge

The seated bridge exercise works your glute and thigh muscles to help get rid of cellulite. Sit on the edge of a sturdy chair with your hands spanning the chair's edge and pointing towards your butt. Put your feet flat on the floor and bend your knees to a 90-degree angle. Lift your hips until your body resembles a bridge, allowing your palms and feet to support your weight. Hold for 30 to 60 seconds before releasing and repeating.

Lunges

Lunges elevate your heart rate to help you burn fat. Additionally, they tone the muscles of your legs, thighs and glutes to get rid of cellulite. You can use a barbell or dumbbells placed on your shoulders to increase the intensity of this exercise. Stand with your feet hip-width apart and flex your abdominal muscles. Step forward with your right leg, placing it on the ground while your torso stays upright. Bend your knee to lower your body towards the floor until your knee forms a 90-degree angle. Push into your heel and return to your starting position.
