At Home Remedies for Skin Rashes

Rashes are a skin condition that consists of an outbreak of bumps on the body. Rashes can be caused by irritants to the skin, a fungal infection, or because of another ailment. The rash can be itchy and possibly spread to other parts of the body. There are over-the-counter medications and home remedies to aid in relief of the itching and to get rid of the rash. Aloe Vera

Aloe vera can be used to treat rashes due to its anti-inflammatory and moisturizing properties. The aloe vera can penetrate the skin quickly and also aid in relieving inflammation of the rash, according to Granny Med. Aloe vera gel or lotion bought in a store can be used. Aloe vera gel from a plant can also be used. Take one leaf from the aloe vera plant and cut it open. Drain the yellow latex from the plant and then remove the aloe vera gel. Rub the gel on the rash to get relief from itching and to help with inflammation of the rash.

Colloidal Oatmeal

Colloidal oatmeal is finely ground oatmeal. This oatmeal can be made by grinding regular oatmeal in a blender or food processor. Colloidal oatmeal will aid in relieving itching caused by the rash. Several cups of the colloidal oatmeal can be placed in a tub full of water. Soak in the mixture for 10 minutes.

Turmeric

Turmeric is a South Asian herb that can be used to treat rashes. According to Granny Med, turmeric has natural anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. Turmeric will help to draw out any toxins in the body to heal the skin. Turmeric can be mixed with aloe vera gel or water to form a paste. Apply the paste to the affected area and leave on for 30 minutes. The turmeric mixture can be rinsed off with water.
