Known as "the city that never sleeps," New York, N.Y. buzzes 'round the clock with unique ways to get fit. Whether you're trying to burn off decadent dinners or balance out some of the more sedentary-but-can't-miss activities, like Broadway shows, Shakespeare in the Park and games at Yankee Stadium, the Big Apple has a lot of fitness activities to offer after dark.

Empire Stately Stroll

Follow up a Broadway show with a brightly lit power walk through the bustle of Fifth Avenue to the Empire State Building. The observation deck doesn't close until 2 a.m. Avoid the legendary long lines by purchasing an ESB Express Pass. Pack a warm layer. It can get pretty chilly at 1,050 feet, even on warm nights.

Moonlight Rides

Spin your wheels---either on a bicycle or in-line skates---after dark with Central Park Moonlight Rides. The first Friday of each month, riders and skaters meet up at Columbus Circle for a two-hour loop tour of Central Park. Wear a helmet and light or reflective clothing. Overnight rentals are available from several Central Park vendors and local bicycle shops. And don't forget to fill your water bottle.

Tee Time

Golf enthusiasts can cure their slice late into the night at the Golf Club at Chelsea Piers just beyond Manhattan's meatpacking district. Comprised of a 200-yard, net-enclosed artificial turf fairway overlooking the moonlit Hudson River, the driving range features 52 heated and weather-protected stalls as well as an automatic ball-tee-up/transport system.

Spectator Sports

Catch a night game with one of the city's professional sports teams: the New York Knicks and Liberty basketball, Yankees and Mets baseball, Metro Stars soccer and Islanders ice hockey teams. Or if you'd rather see how your stats stack up to New York's pro baseball teams, you can hit the batting cage after dark at The Field House at Chelsea Piers. Take your pick of pitches, from fast to slow and with or without ProBatter simulator.

Bowl More

There are bowling alleys all around New York City, from Ball Park Lanes in the Bronx to Bowlmor Lanes in Greenwich Village. Bowling is a fun, active and affordable alternative to a more expensive restaurant or movie.

Manhattan on Ice

Skate in the shadow of New York's most famous holiday tree at Rockefeller Center's outdoor wintertime rink, located only steps from NBC's headquarters. If you'd rather skirt the tourist crowds, twirl your way about the Pond at Bryant Park about 10 blocks south.
