In Chinese medicine, the hands contain important acupressure points that can be massaged or held for self-healing or healing another person. Also called acupoints, these points are believed to be located along invisible energy lines that connect to various organs and systems in the body. When pressed or massaged, these points are believed to induce therapeutic functions that are specific to each point. Always consult a physician in the treatment of any health condition.

Large Intestine 4

Located on the top of the hand at the top of the fleshy mound that connects the thumb and forefinger, large intestine 4, or "The Great Eliminator" as it is also called, has many uses in Chinese medicine. Acupressure practitioners report reductions in pain, headaches and fevers when this point is firmly pressed.

Heart 9

Heart 9 is located on the inside of the little finger at the edge of the nail. It is used by acupressure practitioners to treat chest pain, heart palpitations, migraines and heart disorders. Press or massage this point for a few minutes every day to aid in the treatment of these conditions.

Small Intestine 3

Located on the outside edge of the hand, just below the base of the little finger, small intestine 3 is a point that is used in Chinese Medicine to address a stiff neck, lower back pain, headaches and neck pain. Press or massage this point firmly on a daily basis or throughout the day to help reduce pain.
