Boiron Pharmacy manufactures homeopathic remedies and products. The company began in France and is now an international homeopathic manufacturing company. The American branch has been called Boiron USA, after the company acquired John A. Borneman and Sons, an American pharmacy. Homeopathic remedies are made by dilution and succussion and manufactured under strict guidelines of the Homeopathic Pharmacopoeia Convention of the United States, a non-governmental, nonprofit scientific organization, according to the organization's website. Manufacturing is under the guidance of the Food and Drug Administration, the American Association of Homeopathic Pharmacists and the American Institute of Homeopathy.
Oscillococcinum
Oscillococcinum is a flu remedy made by Boiron. The remedy is made from the liver and heart of geese and is also known as Anas Barbaris. Suggested use is at the beginning of the flu, and repeated every six hours. The remedy can be taken by adults or children older than 2. The remedy is available in many mainstream pharmacies, as well as in health food stores.
Sportentine
Sportentine is a homeopathic remedy manufactured to help athletes recover from overuse injuries. Its intended use is before or immediately after strenuous exercise. The remedy can be taken by adults or children older than 2. Sportentine is made up of a combination of homeopathic remedies, including Arnica montana, Sacrolacticum acidum and Zincum oxydatum. Lemon flavoring is added. The remedy is purported to reduce muscle soreness, trauma to tissue, and to reduce muscle cramps and bruising.
Arnicare
Arnicare is made by Boiron from homeopathic doses of the Arnica montana plant. Arnica is used to reduce bruising. Arnicare is available as a gel, ointment or cream and intended for external application to sore or bruised body parts. It cannot be used on open wounds, however. Arnica has a long history in healing and is recommended by the University of Maryland Medical Center to reduce inflammation and treat aching muscles.
Blue Tubes
Boiron sells many of its homeopathic remedies in "blue tubes." These translucent containers are sold in many health food and specialty food stores.
Cold Calm
Cold Calm is a homeopathic remedy made to ease cold symptoms. It contains numerous homeopathic remedies, including Allium cepa, Apis, Belladonna, Eupatorium, Gelsemium, Kali bic, Nux vomica, Pulsatilla and Phytolacca, along with lactose and sucrose. The pellets dissolve under the tongue and are taken as frequently as every 20 minutes at the onset of symptoms.
