1. Have a Drink On Me
This may come as no surprise to many of you, but drinking red wine is probably one of the best therapies you can medicate yourself with to boost your antioxidant levels. Boasting a generous amount of a substance called phenolic acid, red wine has been known to be a great corner man in your fight against debilitating disease. One 6-oz. glass a night is all it takes. But remember; just because one glass is good for you, it doesn't mean that six glasses is better. Moderation is the trick.
2. Step by Step
Before inquiring about any antioxidant therapies, make sure you get all the cards on the table with your personal care physician. This may be a naturopath, doctor, nutritionist or dietician. In some instances, there are contraindications with other drugs you might be taking. I know your goal is to always do what's best for your body, but in come cases, you might be canceling something out and doing more harm then good. This would be like taking two steps forward and three steps back. Try to focus on one step forward every day.
3. An Apple a Day
Save money by eating your antioxidants. There are a ton of antioxidant formulas, drinks, pills and powders sitting comfortably atop store shelves and countertops nationwide. But unless you are constantly exposed to toxins, stress and chemical pollutants on a daily basis, you can most likely get everything you need right from Mama Nature. Prunes, raisins, blueberries, blackberries and even apples are good sources of antioxidants. Your body reacts really well to live, enzymatically active food; not to mention they also have the added benefit of fiber, which you will not find in an antioxidant formula. Besides, eating food is a lot more fun.
4. Think Fast
It has been known that antioxidant therapy will give you better brain function, but don't solely rely on it for straight A's on your report card. It is more of an insurance policy than a tried and true standard. The important thing to remember is try to keep your diet clean, get plenty of rest, drink plenty of water and get enough exercise. If you throw all of these ingredients together, you will make quite a fine-looking house. If you throw in some antioxidants for good measure, then that house will be built on a concrete foundation.
5. Try to Fix it Before it Gets Broken
You don't want to fall victim to the clutches of monsters such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, Alzheimer 's disease or central nervous system injury . It never hurts to think in terms of preventive maintenance. If you start building up your army of resistance now, it will surely pay off in the long run.
