If you're looking for a destination for a honeymoon or a romantic retreat, the city of Miami and Miami-Dade County might be the perfect place. After all, the weather is pretty much perfect year-round, the beaches are pristine and there are tons of recreational possibilities throughout the area. Whether you plan on staying in Miami itself or exploring nearby cities such as Fort Lauderdale or Delray Beach, it's hardly likely you will have a dull moment.
Local Food
For romantic fine dining in Delray Beach, head to Salotto. In Fort Lauderdale, Captain Shrimp is a good date place, with a soothing atmosphere and delicious fresh seafood. In Miami proper, try Chef Adrianne's Vineyard Restaurant and Wine Bar for healthy food in a refined environment.
Places to Stay
For an extra splash of luxury, spoil yourselves with a stay at the Biltmore in Coral Gables, one of the Miami area's finest upscale properties. In Coconut Grove, the Grove Island Hotel and Spa is a popular spot for couples seeking a dose of rest and relaxation.
Spa & Wellness
A day at the spa together can be both rejuvenating and romantic. The spa at the Four Seasons includes a couple's massage room. Miami's only five-star spa, at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, also contains facilities for couples. When Spa V at the Hotel Victor opened its doors, it boasted the first co-ed Turkish Hammam sauna in South Beach. It is still a popular spot for local and visiting couples to decompress.
Beaches
More adventurous couples can head to Haulover Beach Park, where nude sunbathing is permitted. Lummus Park Beach is also popular for topless sunbathing. South Beach is, of course, Miami's most famous and glamorous beach, but it can get crowded. More isolated, and arguably more spectacular beaches, can be found in Key Biscayne, a small tropical island just off of Miami's coast.
Warning
The weather in South Florida can be extremely hot, with strong sun rays throughout the year. A bad sunburn can quickly turn a romantic vacation into a disastrous trip. Be sure to bring lots of sunscreen with you if you plan on spending a lot of time outdoors. Better safe than sorry.
