Seattle, Washington is a great place to visit. Because the climate is temperate, the city provides many outdoor activities year-round. The city has world class art venues, including ballet and opera, as well as sport teams, and many sporting opportunities, such as water skiing, kayak, sailing, golf and fishing, all within the city limits. Nearby, the mountains lure skiers and hikers. And for coffee lovers, Seattle is an idyllic place because of its many coffee roasters.

Sports Teams

Seattle is the home of professional baseball, football, women's basketball and soccer. Visitors can enjoy the Seattle Mariners baseball team playing at the Safeco Field from April to September. Football fans enjoy the Seattle Seahawks at the Qwest Arena, where the Seattle Sounders, a professional soccer team, also play. The women's basketball team, the Seattle Storm, plays at the Key Area in the Seattle Center.

Coffee

Coffee is Seattle. Visitors to Seattle can enjoy coffee from numerous local and national vendors, including Starbucks, Seattle's Best, Tullly's and many more. Coffee shops can be found across the street from each other and next to each other. Visitors can purchase coffee from carts on the street. One of the original coffee shops, Cafe Allegro, is located in the University District.

Culture

The Seattle Opera hosts world class productions and is known for the annual production of Wagner's Ring Cycle. The ballet puts on "The Nutcracker" every winter and the symphony, conducted by Gerard Schwarz, offers a variety of programs throughout the year.

Green Lake

Green Lake is a great place to walk any time of day. Walkers and dog walkers and joggers travel the 2.9-mile loop year-round. In summer, they are joined in the park by swimmers, anglers and kayakers. Paddle boats are available for rent in the summer months as well.

Aquarium

The Seattle Aquarium explores the marine environment of Puget Sound. In addition to checking out an electric eel and other exotic creatures, visitors can learn about local starfish, otters and octopus that live in local waters.
