San Francisco has a lot to offer as a tourist destination. From typical urban diversions---live music, museums and ethnic cuisine---to natural and man-made wonders like San Francisco Bay and the Golden Gate Bridge, the city has plenty to see and do.
Culinary Scene
As the home of the largest Chinatown in the country and a Little Tokyo, fans of Asian cuisine have many dining options in San Francisco. For more obscure Asian cooking, try Burma Superstar. If your taste buds run more toward good old-fashioned Californian cuisine, Pisces is worth checking out..
Harbor Tour
Some say the best way to see San Francisco is from the harbor. Many companies offer tours of the city by boat. You can also take a ferry to Alcatraz, the famous former island prison, or to Sausalito to browse the cute shops or dine on the water.
Watch a Game
San Francisco is also popular with sports fans. Catch the San Francisco 49ers in action at Candlestick Park. See the San Francisco Giants play at AT&T Park. The University of San Francisco and San Francisco State also field teams in many sports.
Day at the Beach
San Francisco has a number of fine beaches. If you're a strong swimmer, you can go for a dip at secluded China Beach, which has a view of Golden Gate Bridge. Many San Francisco Bay beaches, however, have dangerous rip currents that result in several drownings a year. Ocean Beach is popular with surfers. Baker Beach, also near the Golden Gate Bridge, is one of the city's more isolated spots.
Rest & Rejuvenate
Sweat away all the stress of big city living at one of San Francisco's popular spas. The Kabuki Springs and Spa is decked out in traditional Japanese furnishings, including a large communal bath. It also has saunas and steam rooms. Tru Spa is another popular spot for decompressing.
