How To Troubleshoot an Image 10.6 Treadmill

The Image 10.6 treadmill is an exercise device designed for use in the home. The treadmill's features include a heart rate monitor, adjustable speed and incline settings, four preset performance programs, two preset total-body performance programs and support for integration with the iFit service. When not in use, you can fold the device up for easy storage. As you use your Image 10.6 treadmill, you may occasionally encounter issues that prevent the device from operating as desired. A few basic troubleshooting procedures may help you locate and correct the problem.

Display Problems

Step 1

Disconnect the treadmill's power cord. Pull the treadmill key out of the slot on the front of the console.

Step 2

Kneel down next to the right side of the treadmill's base. Find the outer side shield, located between the two uprights. Push down on the top of the shield to disengage it from the base unit, then pull the shield off and set it aside. Move over to the left side of the treadmill's base and remove the outer side shield on that end.

Step 3

Remove the screws securing both inner side shields to the treadmill's base. Lift the shields off of the base and set them aside. Remove the screws securing the motor hood in place, then lift the motor hood off of the base and set it aside.

Step 4

Turn the treadmill pulley until the attached magnet comes into view. Align the magnet with the nearby reed switch and measure the distance between the two components; the gap should measure roughly one-eighth of an inch. Loosen the screw securing the reed switch's bracket in place. Adjust the positioning of the reed switch as necessary, then tighten the bracket screw.

Step 5

Replace the motor hood and secure it back in place with the previously removed screws; repeat with the inner side panels. Reinstall the outer side panels and press them in place until they feel properly secure.

Belt Problems

Step 1

Trace the treadmill's power cord back to the electrical outlet. Confirm that the cord is plugged into a single-outlet surge protector connected to a grounded electrical outlet.

Step 2

Remove the key from the treadmill's console unit and disconnect the power cord from its electrical outlet.

Step 3

Kneel down at the front of the treadmill's base and locate the bolts on either side of the walking belt. To tighten the walking belt, use an Allen wrench to turn both bolts a quarter of a turn counterclockwise. To shift the belt to the right, turn the left bolt clockwise and the right bolt counterclockwise. To shift the belt to the left, turn the left bolt counterclockwise and the right bolt clockwise.

Step 4

Insert the key into the console and plug the power cord back into its electrical outlet. Walk on the treadmill to check its alignment; if necessary, remove the key, unplug the cord and make further adjustments.
