How To Troubleshoot an Image Advanced 1400 Treadmill

The Image Advanced 1400 treadmill is an exercise device designed to help provide a cardiovascular workout. The machine consists of a walking belt incorporated into the treadmill's base and a console unit that adjusts the incline level and speed of the belt. The console also displays certain relevant information, such as the current device settings and the time spent exercising. Should your treadmill cease to function as desired, you may be able to restore it to working order by following certain diagnostic procedures.

Power Problems

Step 1

Kneel down and examine the end of the treadmill platform located underneath the console. Confirm that the power cord is properly connected to the treadmill.

Step 2

Follow the power cord to the other end and check that the power plug is properly connected to a surge protector. Confirm that the surge protector is connected to a grounded electrical outlet. Experiment with connecting the surge protector to an alternate electrical outlet.

Step 3

Check the status of the treadmill's circuit breaker, located near the device's power port. If the right half of the circuit breaker switch protrudes upwards, push down on the protruding end to reset the breaker.

Step 4

Check that the key is installed in the treadmill console. If the device is powered off with the key installed, remove the key from the treadmill console, then reinsert it.

Incline Problems

Step 1

Insert the key into the treadmill's console. Press the button labeled "Quick Incline," located on the left side of the console.

Step 2

Wait for the incline level of the walking belt to begin to change. Remove the key from the console while the pad is still in motion. Wait several seconds before proceeding.

Step 3

Reinsert the key into the console. Wait for the treadmill's incline system to recalibrate before making any adjustments.

Display Problems

Step 1

Remove the key from the treadmill's console. Disconnect the power cord from its electrical outlet.

Step 2

Place one foot on the treadmill's base and tip the uprights down until the device folds in on itself. This step may require the help of another person.

Step 3

Remove the three screws set into the hood, located above the treadmill's power cord. Return the uprights to their original position and remove the hood from the base of the treadmill.

Step 4

Inspect the side of the pulley and locate the affixed magnet. Rotate the pulley until the magnet lines up with the nearby reed switch. Check that there is a 1/8" gap between the magnet and reed switch. To adjust the distance, loosen the screw on the reed switch, nudge the switch in the desired direction and then tighten the screw securely.

Step 5

Replace the hood and use the previously removed screws to secure it back in place.
