Cleveland, Ohio, is home to numerous free indoor and outdoor activities within the metropolitan area. Located directly on Lake Erie, visitors and locals can
their way through sandy beaches, hiking trails to art museums without spending a penny. Free Cleveland activities are offered all year long and are available to all ages.

Beaches

Cleveland Lakefront State Park preserves plenty of shoreline for locals and travelers to enjoy. Edgewater Park is a 419 acre park along Lake Erie offering a 900 foot swimming beach. A view of the Cleveland skyline can be seen along the picnic areas. Euclid beach offers 650 feet of beach with picnic areas and an observation deck. Villa Angela's 900 foot swimming beach features a scenic boardwalk and fitness trail leading to WildWood park and marina. Cleveland Lakefront State Park offers Friday Family Fun Night featuring nature games, canoeing, live animal programs and other outdoor programs.

Outdoor Activities

The Cleveland Metroparks feature 12 parks that cover 20 thousand acres of green space. Visitors can enjoy hiking, biking, in-line skating, running, cross country skiing and horseback riding on more than 60 miles of paved all-purpose trails. Free monthly events include art festivals, bird watching walks, naturalist interpretation hikes and cinema Saturday nights. The Cleveland Metroparks operate year round.

Art

The Cleveland Art Museum features a collection from 17 styles of art. Admission into the gallery is free excluding special exhibitions. Numerous events occur on the weekend including free family events including gallery talk, art demonstrations and Global Family days offering drumming, dancing, storytelling and art carving demonstrations.

History

Cleveland's West Side Market has been in existence since 1840. This must-see atmosphere is home to more than 100 ethnic vendors. The West Side Market has been featured on the Food Network and Travel Channel, and it is estimated that over one million people visited the market in 2009. During the summer season, an outdoor section of the market is open and features free, live music.

Entertainment

Voinovich Bicentennial Park is located directly behind the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on the waterfront and is a popular spot for tourists and photographers. The park hosts many festivals and events, such as the Pride Festival, Rock & Boom and Gravity Games. Bicentennial Park also features a skate park. This park is within walking distance of the Rock Hall, Cleveland Browns Stadium and the Science Museum.
