The human brain is divided into right and left hemispheres. In most peoplel, the left hemisphere processes language, makes logical assumptions and helps focus attention. The right hemisphere is considered the creative side; it's where visual images and emotions are processed. Regardless of which side you lean toward, there are exercises to stimulate both right and left brain.

Visual Exercises For Right Brain

Certain exercises force you to use your creative side, making the right hemisphere function. For example, try making origami shapes and animals. This Japanese art of folding paper helps improve motor skills and enhances creativity. Use objects such as modeling clay, Play-doh or construction paper to express how you feel. If you are depressed, sculpt gray clay or Play-doh into a cloud shape; if you feel happy, cut out a sun in some bright yellow construction paper.

Photographic Memory Exercises For Right Brain

Work the right hemisphere of your brain by exercising on your photographic memory. Take a few minutes each day to study your surroundings. Focus on small details of things around you, and then try to remember them when you close your eyes. Use a recording device when you describe what you recall with your eyes closed. Then open your eyes and replay your recording to see how well you remembered your surroundings. If you do this daily, you will soon be able to recall the details without much concentration.

Puzzles For Left Brain

Interactive math and sudoku games keep your brain sharp. They also provide a feeling of accomplishment once you have successfully solved them.

Exercise For Both Hemispheres

The right hemisphere of your brain controls the left side of your body, and the left hemisphere of your brain controls the right side of your body. That is why victims of stroke in the right hemisphere of their brain may have their left arm and leg paralyzed. Try performing daily activities with your non-dominant hand. If you are right-handed, use your left hand to write, and vice versa.
