Losing weight is not easy, especially in a society where food temptations abound. Remember that dropping those pounds takes discipline, repetition and above all, will power. But a strict exercise regimen can lead you quickly you on your way to losing extra weight. Keep in mind that diet along with exercise is the best way to lose weight more effectively.
Exercise Variety
Doing the same exercise routine every day allows your body to adapt to the regimen, thus working against the speed at which you lose weight. Instead, Marie Claire Magazine recommends regularly changing up your exercise routine and including various outdoor activities such as swimming and biking. Start by biking a few blocks and slowly increasing your speed and distance. Swim laps at your local pool or recreational center. Remember to do cardio activities such as these last in your work-out routine. If you do other exercises first, such as weight lifting, your body will be warmed up by the time you hit the bike, and you'll burn more fat.
Trunk Rotation
This exercise is perfect for people who want to slim down fast, according to the Fitness Magazine website. Lie on your back with one eight- to 10-pound dumbbell held horizontally in both hands. Hold the dumbbell about six inches above your chest, then bend your knees at a 90-degree angle. Tilt your knees slightly to the left while turning your shoulders and dumbbells to the right. Do between 10 and 15 reps. Reach the dumbbell toward your toes for another set of reps. For a more advanced routine, do one rotational crunch to each side of the body, then reach the weight up toward your feet. Alternate these movements for two or more minutes with no break.
Bicep Curls
According to Marie Claire magazine, the more muscle tone in your body, the more calories you burn. Make extra time for weight training exercises such as bicep curls, even if you have to use the weights during cardio activity. Start by holding two- to three-pound weights in your hands as you're walking fast or doing stair-climbing exercises. Extend the weights out, then bring them toward your shoulder. Repeat. Bicep curls will create muscle tone, says the magazine, which will help shed more fat during cardio workouts.
