San Francisco features many constructive and interactive things to do for kids. From kayaking during a baseball game to flying a kite on the Promenade under the Golden Gate Bridge, your child will be kept busy during your whole trip. The most challenging aspect will be narrowing down your activities to fit into your schedule!

Go Fly a Kite

Under the world famous Golden Gate Bridge on the Golden Gate Promenade, you'll find an oasis of favorite childhood activities. The winds are ideal for a kite flying experience you will all remember for a lifetime. Kids can also Rollerblade or ride bikes along the Promenade. And there's a hiking trail filled with fun facts to learn along the way to the Crissy Field Center at trails end, part of the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy.

Golden Gate Recreation Area

A must-see for kids in San Francisco is the Golden Gate Recreation Area and National Park. Your children will participate in interactive games where they learn about the Golden Gate Park and what park rangers do there. Kids will have a great time while they explore and observe the wildlife and ecosystem, tracking everything from rare mission blue butterflies to coastal coyotes in Golden Gate National Park.

A Stroll in the Park

Babies and toddlers are not left out of the fun in San Francisco. You and your little ones will explore 12 breathtaking areas of Golden Gate Park during guided "stroller" walks. Each walk is unique and you will get tremendous exercise while discovering history and nature. Older brothers and sisters can walk alongside your stroller with ease since the ground is mostly flat and walks are about an hour. Check ahead for walking schedules since strolls occur from June through September.

Believe It or Not

No visit to San Francisco would be complete without a visit to the world-renowned Ripley's Believe it or Not Museum. Here kids can see shrunken heads, encounter odd animals, and visit an aquarium with over 10,000 square feet of the bizarre. They will learn about tribal artifacts collected from around the globe and get to see exotic fish in the aquarium.

McCovey Cove

Kids love frolicking in the waters of McCovey Cove in boats and kayaks. Consider bringing a fishing net in hopes of scooping up a home-run ball. The Cove is named after San Francisco Giants legend Willie "Stretch" McCovey. A public waterfront promenade stretches along the dock where your kids can watch a ballgame through the archways free of charge. There are also plenty of kayak rentals and picnic boat charters available to catch all of the action.
