Although there are a variety of ways to lose weight, many people enjoy workout programs that can be used right from the comfort of home. Many of these help you get fit in three ways---by offering an exercise routine, nutritional advice and a method in which to track your progress.
Insanity
According to the Beach Body website, Insanity is a fitness program that combines both fitness and exercise. The system comes with 10 DVDs that vary from 30 to 50 minutes in length. They are designed to challenge you with long bouts of high-intensity exercise mixed with small periods of rest. As a result, you can burn as much as 1,000 calories in one hour.
In addition to the video workouts, the Insanity system provides a nutrition program that is specifically designed to coordinate with intense exercise. Although this fitness system is semi-expensive, it can be broken up into three more affordable monthly payments.
Core Rhythms
The Core Rhythms workout program provides a fun and entertaining way to exercise. The system of exercise videos uses Latin dancing to work the abs, oblique and back muscles. The collection comes with seven DVDs, including a bonus abdominal workout. In addition to the DVDs, this system includes a nutrition guide that compliments each workout, a weight loss tracker and a tape measure to keep track of your progress.
P90X
The P90X video workout program is designed to help you lose weight and get physically fit in 90 days. It includes 12 video workouts that each target specific parts of the body. Personal trainer Tony Horton leads each exercise. The technique, called muscle confusion, utilizes various routines and muscle groups constantly to reduce boredom and weight plateaus. In addition, the system comes with a comprehensive nutrition guide, a calendar in which to track progress and free online support from both peers and fitness experts.
Gilad's Quick Fit System
The Bodies in Motion with Gilad website says that Gilad's Quick Fit System is designed for people who have little time to exercise. It combines nutritional advice with various exercise routines. This workout program comes with four DVDs that include three cardiovascular workouts and four strength training sessions. Each workout is designed to be used in a specific order to prevent the muscles from being overworked. The system also includes a nutrition plan--not a diet plan but a way to teach you proper nutrition--and a progress journal to track and plan progress.
