Cellulite is a common condition especially among females. The body has cords that connect the skin and muscles. The Mayo Clinic notes that as fat cells accumulate, they push the cords against the skin resulting in the dimpling appearance referred to as cellulite. There are many over-the-counter creams and products designed to improve or eliminate cellulite, but they can be expensive and may not even work. Fortunately, incorporating certain foods into your diet can naturally improve cellulite.

Whole Grains

Since cellulite is caused by an accumulation of fat cells, losing weight is an effective way to eliminate it. According to "Fight Cellulite at Every Meal," an article that appeared in the June 2010 issue of Shape magazine, people who eat whole grain products have less belly fat which translates into less cellulite. The likely cause for this is that the fiber in whole grain products keeps the stomach full for longer, so you're less likely to snack in between meals. Replace white breads, pastas, rice and cereals with the whole grain variety. Also, try to fill up on fiber-rich fruits and vegetables like raspberries and broccoli.

Healthy Fats

Unsaturated fats, also referred to as healthy fats, can result in weight loss and cellulite reduction according to Shape magazine. The American Heart Association recommends that 25 to 35 percent of your total caloric intake comes from fat. In order to lose weight and cellulite, try to keep the number closer to 25 percent with about 17 percent coming from healthy fats. If you consume 1,800 calories per day, this means about 300 calories should come from unsaturated fat found in fish, avocados, nuts and olive oil.

Protein

Protein may also reduce cellulite according to Health Guidance. This is because protein tightens the skin and firms the muscles, thereby reducing the appearance of cellulite. The amount of protein you should consume varies based upon age, muscle mass and a variety of other factors. Consult a health care provider about how much is right on an individual basis. Good sources of protein include fish, nuts, beans and low or non-fat dairy products.

Organic Fruits and Vegetables

The online magazine, Women's Healthcare Topics, recommends eating organic fruits and vegetables to reduce cellulite. Organic fruits and vegetables contain nutrients and antioxidants that can potentially eliminate toxins from the body. Berries, cherries, spinach, peppers and carrots are some of the best sources of antioxidants.
