Things to Do in Seattle, Washington, at Night

Situated a little more than 100 miles south of the Canadian border, Seattle, Washington, is perched on the mouth of the Puget Sound. The city serves as a major hub of culture, technology and business in the region. There also are multiple major universities within the city such as the University of Washington and Seattle University. Lastly, there are multiple major sports teams including the Seattle Seahawks of the NFL, the Seattle Sounders of MLS, and the Seattle Mariners of Major League Baseball.

Dining

Located on the ocean, Seattle is home to excellent dining. One of the most notable restaurants in Seattle is Sky City. Sky City is located at the top of the Space Needle 500 feet above the ground below. The restaurant slowly rotates giving the customers a chance to take in all the sights Sky City has to offer. Some other top restaurants in the city include the Dahlia Lounge, Canlis, Georgian and El Gaucho.

Sports Events

Despite the recent departure of the Seattle SuperSonics basketball team there are still sporting events to attend throughout most of the year. The Seattle Mariners compete in Major League Baseball during the spring, summer and early fall should they make the playoffs. They play their home games at Safeco Field on the south side of the city.
The Seattle Seahawks play in the NFL during the fall and winter. They play games once each week; home games are played at Qwest Field which is also located on the south side of the city.
The Seattle Sounders, named after the Puget Sound, are a member of Major League Soccer. They play their games during the spring and summer months at Qwest Field.

Concerts and Performances

Seattle attracts musicians of all calibers and styles. There are jazz clubs that feature both local and renowned artists on a nightly basis. One of the most notable jazz clubs is Dimitriou's Jazz Alley. They are one of the premier clubs on the West Coast and have hosted multiple Grammy Award winners.
Some of the bigger outdoor concert venues are Safeco Field and Qwest Field along with The Gorge. Big name indoor venues include the Paramount Theatre and Key Arena.

Theatre

Fans of the performing arts can enjoy a night out at the theater in Seattle. Here, you will find renowned plays such as "Candide" and "Mary Poppins" along with modern plays such as "Menopause: The Musical." There are also ballet shows and certain cinematic features that play. Some of the main theaters are the 5th Avenue Theatre, the Tacoma Pantages Theatre, and the Paramount Theatre.

Bars and Clubs

Like nearly every major city, Seattle is home to some excellent bars and clubs. There are a few popular neighborhoods downtown with a dense concentration of clubs. These are Belltown, Pioneer Square and Capitol Hill. The establishments of Capitol Hill have come together to offer a cover charge that will get you into multiple clubs. This allows for easier barhopping and pub crawls. One of the top nightclubs in the city is Trinity Nightclub.
