The culturally diverse city of San Jose is a commercial center in the Silicon Valley located in Santa Clara County, California. Less than an hour away from San Francisco, San Jose offers a wide range of interesting activities and attractions for the entire family. Throughout the year, take advantage of the opportunity to learn about San Jose. Immerse yourself in its culture through special events and programs or experience the city's many exciting outdoor recreation opportunities suited for people of all ages.

Golf

San Jose has more than 10 golf courses including Rancho Del Pueblo, Cinnabar Hills Golf Club, Deep Cliff Golf Course and Pin High Golf Center. Whether you want to learn how to play golf, play an 18-hole game or practice your swing at a driving range, San Jose has the right golf course for you. Don't forget to visit Coyote Creek Golf Club, the location of the only Jack Nicklaus signature golf course in the Bay Area that's open to the public.

Museums

San Jose is home to dozens of museums, from special museums for children to museums that reflect the cultural heritage of the people of the city. Kids can learn through 150 interactive exhibits in the 52,000-square-foot Children's Discovery Museum of San Jose.
At the Mexican Heritage Plaza, you can view visual arts exhibitions or attend community festivals and concerts, workshops, symposiums and lectures that they host.
Visit the San Jose Institute of Contemporary Art, where you can see art exhibits from the region in three galleries. You also can view exhibits and learn about the history of quilts and textiles at the San Jose Museum of Quilts and Textiles.

Gardens and Parks

On a sunny, day, visit one of San Jose's many gardens and parks. Attend a concert or stroll through the ponds and pavilions at the Chinese Cultural Gardens in Overfelt Park. Walk on trails, ride a carousel or do pilates or yoga in the Friends of Guadalupe River Park & Gardens. You can also walk over foot bridges at the Japanese Friendship Gardens in Kelley Park and view hundreds of exotic koi.

Amusement Centers

The entire family will enjoy spending a day in an amusement center in San Jose. Watch professional bike racing or take a beginner racing class at Northern California's only bicycle racing track, Hellyer Velodrome.
At 23-acre Raging Waters, Northern California's largest water park, you can slide down more than 20 water slides or go tubing in the 350,000-gallon wave pool.
You can also play billiards or bowling and hold special events such as birthday parties in 300 San Jose, a bowling entertainment and event center.

Festivals and Events

All year-round, San Jose is home to a wide range of festivals and special events. Beginning in January, you can watch the San Jose Sabercats play football or the San Jose Stealth play lacrosse.
In February, attend the Vietnamese Spring Festival and Parade, and in March enjoy the Cinequest Film Festival.
In May, don't miss the Cinco de Mayo Festival and Parade. Don't forget about all the other festivals from June to November and in December, when you can attend the San Jose Holiday Parade.
