Rosemary is widely used in aromatherapy for its energizing, stimulating properties. It can help to boost your memory and concentration ability and give you extra energy during times of fatigue. Other herbs and essential oils, such as peppermint, coriander and cinnamon, also offer the same powerful benefits as rosemary. Because of the risk of side effects, you should always consult your doctor before using any herb or essential oil.

Peppermint

Peppermint is an herb that can promote extra energy and lift feelings of fatigue and stress. According to Kylie Thompson in the book "Aromatherapy for the Emotions," peppermint is refreshing and stimulating and can be used to clear your head and promote clear thinking during times of stress or exertion. It can eliminate feelings of lethargy and fatigue. You can use 1 tsp. of dried peppermint in a cup of boiling water to make a refreshing tea that will also help to ease digestive complaints. Use 10 to 15 drops of peppermint oil in a bath for extra energy. You can make an energizing massage oil by adding several drops of the oil to 1/2 cup of a carrier oil like almond or canola oil.

Coriander

Coriander, also known as cilantro in leaf form, is an herb that is popularly used to flavor traditional Mexican and Mediterranean cuisine. The essential oil is extracted through steam-distillation of the coriander seeds. Coriander is stimulating and energizing. According to Thompson, coriander can promote feelings of confidence, positive energy and motivation. It can help to increase concentration abilities during times of stress and alleviate feelings of fatigue or lack of energy. You can use four to eight drops of coriander oil in a warm bath for stimulating and revitalization, or inhale the aroma directly from the bottle for an uplifted mood.

Cinnamon

According to the Encyclopedia of Family Health, edited by Drs. David Jacoby and Robert Youngson, cinnamon is a stimulating herb that also has antiseptic, aphrodisiac and antispasmodic properties. The essential oil of cinnamon is warming and uplifting and can be effectively used to alleviate stress and nervous exhaustion. It can help to restore energy and balance if you are feeling tired and lethargic. Cinnamon oil is very potent so you only need to use a small amount to obtain its benefits. Use five drops of cinnamon essential oil in a bath for revitalization. You can also use a few drops in a vaporizer to enhance your ability to concentrate or to relieve mental fatigue.
