Las Vegas is actually one of the most kid-friendly destinations in the United States. The weather's great for entertaining children as well, since it's almost always sunny and rarely too hot. Las Vegas is also very close to the Grand Canyon, Red Rock Canyon and Yosemite. There are endless interactive activities for kids to do and see in the Las Vegas area.
Red Rock Canyon
This amazing canyon was created billions of years ago when the Earth's tectonic plates collided. A visit to its serene ecosystem offers a tailor-made science class for kids. Red Rock Canyon is amazingly only about 15 miles from the Las Vegas Strip, so you won't need to worry about a long trip to get there. Kids will enjoy family picnicking, rock climbing and horseback riding--all within the friendly confines of the Conservation Area. Exploring the 30-mile trail, kids and grown ups alike will be awed by wild horses, bobcats, hummingbirds and hawks.
For Amusements Only
Las Vegas boasts some of the technologically advanced amusement rides in the world. Where else can you take a harrowing roller coaster ride down the side of a giant hotel? You will want to bring your bathing suits for the log flume and be sure to hold on tight as well. Learning is always the most fun when you don't realize you're doing it and that's what happens at the cartoon learning show in 4-D at a special effects theater. There's also a free-fall ride for daredevils as well as an observation deck for those that just want to take in all the action.
Bouncing Off Walls
In Las Vegas you can allow your kids to literally bounce off walls. In fact, they can also safely jump off of walls, too. Sky Zone is an indoor fun center in Las Vegas for kids that provides children and teens with exercise and fitness as they have the time of their lives jumping on a trampoline and safely into thickly padded walls. The entrance includes age-appropriate "sky aerobics" classes and interactive games that incorporate the fun and excitement of a patented trampoline training surface.
Desert Safari
No visit to Las Vegas for kids would be complete without a desert safari. Kids can walk down the same trails once traveled by the pioneers of the Wild West. You will tour old gold rush mines and camps and even do some treasure hunting. Your safari will take you more than 4,000 feet for a spectacular view of desert valleys. Along the way you'll encounter Joshua trees, bighorn sheep, wild burros and mustangs. Bring the camera, since there are also occasional sightings of the rarely seen kit fox. Guided tours depart right from your hotel.
Wax Museum
The pictures you take at the interactive wax museum will have friends back home thinking your kids hobnobbed with famous movie and sports stars. There's also wax figures from history, so children can learn about important people and relive the times and events that made them so important. Kids can perform songs in front of celebrity judges, go one on one with basketball legends and meet U.S. presidents seemingly in person. The museum is open every day.
