According to the Mayo Clinic, cellulite is caused by fat cells that accumulate between connective tissue and muscle, and as fat cells grow, often with weight gain, they strain against the connective tissue, causing dimpling on the surface of the skin. However, there are some home remedies and vitamins that can help to reduce the visibility of cellulite while working to get rid of it. These remedies have not been approved by the FDA for effectiveness however, so you should talk to your doctor before trying them.

Coffee Grounds

According to Jethro Kloss, author of ""Back to Eden: The Classic Guide to Herbal Medicine, Natural Foods, and Home Remedies Since 1939," coffee grounds can help to reduce the appearance of cellulite by helping to slough off dead skin cells and make new skin cells regenerate faster. To use coffee grounds, mix four tablespoons dry coffee grounds with one tablespoon of distilled water and apply the mixture in a thick layer to the affected area. Leave the coffee grounds mixture on for 20 minutes before rinsing the skin with cool water. When using coffee grounds for cellulite reduction, Kloss recommends using fresh coffee grounds, as they retain more of their natural oil than used coffee grounds. Coffee grounds can be used up to two times per day unless skin irritation occurs.

Apple Cider Vinegar

According to Paul C. Bragg, author of "Apple Cider Vinegar: Miracle Health System," drinking apple cider vinegar can help to remove and reduce the appearance of cellulite on the body. To use apple cider vinegar, drink one tablespoon with eight-ounces of clean water or natural apple juice four times per day. Bragg recommends using only natural apple cider vinegar with at least 5 percent acidity to get the best results. Avoid drinking apple cider vinegar straight, as it can harm the esophagus and throat because of its acidity. Apple cider vinegar should be consumed every day to get the maximum benefit, according to Bragg.

Vitamin B-6

Vitamin B-6 is important in the fight against cellulite because it can help to establish strong connective tissue and make the body replace damaged connective tissue faster. Vitamin B-6 is commonly found in tuna, salmon, cold, red snapper, turkey and bananas according to Whole Foods. If you cannot add more vitamin B-6 into your diet, there are B-6 supplements available.

Vitamin A

Vitamin A is an essential antioxidant for the body that can help your body repair damaged connective tissue and collagen, which is important when trying to reduce the visibility of cellulite, according to Bill Gotleib, author of "Alternative Cures: The Most Effective Natural Home Remedies for 160 Health Problems." Vitamin A is commonly found in carrots, milk, spinach, kale, turnip greens, liver and eggs. Vitamin A is also widely available in supplement form if you cannot add it to your diet.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E can help to reduce the appearance of cellulite because it is an antioxidant. Vitamin E is a vitamin that is fat-soluble, meaning it will be stored in your body until used, which are useful to help to fight free radicals that can build up in the body and damage connective tissue. Sunflower seeds, almonds, Swiss chard, mustard greens, collard greens and blueberries are high in vitamin E, and it is also available in supplement form if you cannot add vitamin-E rich foods to your diet.
