The City of Seattle offers a multitude of activities for both adults and children. Away from all the hustle and bustle of the city, Seattle can offer its residents and visitors the chance to kick back and relax with some healthy activities that provide fitness and education.
Outdoor Markets
Spend some time outdoors in one of Seattle's best known attractions--Pike Place Market. The market spans several blocks ,and you'll find all sorts of goodies, from fresh fish to fresh fruit. Don't forget to stop by Ballard's Farmer's Market, where there's plenty of locally grown fruits and vegetables. Both places offer a variety of healthy options.
Golf
For golf enthusiasts, try one of Seattle's public golf courses, like the Jefferson Park Golf Course, which is located in Seattle's Beacon Hill neighborhood. The course totals 6,200 yards and also has both an 18-hole course and a 9-hole course. While taking in a round of golf here, you will be able to view the city's skyline as well as Mount Rainer. Also visit the Green Lake Pitch & Putt, a 9-hole course that is just for pitching and putting only.
Walking and Bicycling
During your visit to Seattle, visit Discovery Park, which offers several trails and paths to walk or bike on. This 534-acre park overlooks Puget Sound and includes two miles of protected areas, as well as open meadowlands. Take in the view during your walk, or bike ride and watch the area's wildlife.
Outdoor Sports and Fitness
Get away from the hot summer weather, and try whitewater rafting with the Blue Sky Outfitters. Have an experience like no other as you travel down the Wenatchee River and make your way through huge waves. Or go kayaking or canoing on Lake Union where you can admire the Seattle skyline. Take a break from your kayaking or canoeing, and take a dip in the lake to cool off. If tennis is your thing, stop in at the Seattle Tennis Club to enjoy in a game or two.
Educational Venues
For an educational spin to your Seattle trip, stop in at the Seattle Art Museum where you can view the paintings and exhibits. Try the Pacific Science Center where adults and children can enjoy the dinosaur exhibit or the tropical butterfly house. Take in a show at the science center's planetarium, where you will be pulled into the world of astronomy and learn about the night sky.
