First impressions are important in both professional and social circles. You want to project confidence in yourself and pride in your appearance. In order to accomplish this, your grooming routine should involve more than a shower and some deodorant. To look your best, you should acquaint yourself with a few of the tools that are fundamental to proper grooming.
Razor
Your face is one of the first things people will notice about you. Invest in a quality multi-blade razor with a pivoting head that will glide easily along all the planes and curves of your face and neck. In her book "Charm School For Guys," author M. Marshall says shaving on a daily basis will give your face a clean, smooth appearance that is both appealing and attractive. Groom your mustache or beard by shaving around them. This will keep the rest of your face from looking scruffy.
Tweezers
Tweezers are another essential tool for good grooming. Your eyes might be your best feature, but all anyone will notice is your unsightly "unibrow" if do not take the time to trim it. According to the TSB Magazine website, plucking away the stray hairs that crop up just above your eye and on your forehead every few days will keep your eyebrows looking neat and clean.
Nose Hair Trimmer
Another useful grooming tool is a nose hair trimmer. Although nose hairs are not as obvious as a unibrow, it is still worth your time to take care of them. You do not want a date or a work colleague distracted by the sight of a long hair sticking out of your nostril. According to the TSB Magazine website, a manual nose hair trimmer is similar in appearance to a hole punch. It is easy to use and painless. Simply insert the trimmer into your nose and depress the clamp to clip away long hairs.
Nail Clippers and Nail Brush
You need a pair of nail clippers and a nailbrush to properly groom your hands and feet. Dirty, jagged fingernails are unattractive; thick, yellow toenails are disgusting. Keep your nails short and neat by clipping them frequently. Use your nailbrush daily to keep your nails free of dirt and grime. Marshall recommends keeping one nailbrush on your sink and another in your shower.
Toothbrush
This one may seem obvious, but oral hygiene is a very important part of good grooming. There are few things that are a bigger turn off than bad breath and grungy-looking teeth. Choose a soft-bristled brush that will clean your teeth without making your gums bleed. Brush and floss your teeth daily and get regular dental checkups for a healthy, great-looking smile.
