When you visit Atlantic City expect to enjoy one of the best vacation spots in the country. Its logo, "Atlantic City Always Turned On," mirrors the excitement that is found on the beach, on the Boardwalk and on the golf course. Don't forget to take your walking shoes, bicycle, golf clubs, and bathing suit, because you are in for a great time.

The Beach

The shore at Atlantic City offers swimming, boating, fishing and water sports. The beach sits between the ocean and the boardwalk and it stretches for miles. You can take the family and let the kids enjoy the sun. You can join a party boat for deep sea fishing and go home with a big fish story no one will believe.

The Famous Boardwalk

The Atlantic City Boardwalk is the longest in the world. It stretches for a 5.7 miles and you can walk it if you are up to it, or ride a bike between 6 and 9 a.m. Two main attractions on the Boardwalk are the Ripley's Believe It Or Not Museum and the Steel Pier Amusement Park.

Historic Landmarks and Museums

One of the oldest landmarks in Atlantic City is the Absecon Lighthouse. It is 150 years old and the third tallest lighthouse in the country. A walk to the top will take 228 steps, that is, 171 feet straight up.
The Atlantic City historical museum and art center are located on Garden Pier. It features many characters and events that began on the Boardwalk, including Mr. Peanut, the high-diving horse and the Miss America pageant. Stop by the Atlantic City Aquarium and familiarize yourself with some of the great sea life. It is just a short distance from the Boardwalk.

World Class Golf Courses

There are 26 golf courses in the region and several have been recognized as some of the best in the country. In the March 2009 issue of Forbes Traveler magazine, the Sand Barens was named one of the Top 10 golf courses in the country and Golf Digest has gave it 4 stars. You will enjoy the 27-hole course and challenge that it brings. The Blue Heron Pines was named No. 34 out of the Top 50 courses in the country by Golf World magazine. It features 18 holes on 6,800 yards of beautiful fairgrounds. The Shore Gate Golf Club was the No. 2 public course in New Jersey in 2005-06, according to Golf Digest. Another course worth considering is the Renault Winery Golf Course. It's a 7,200-yard course with views of the vineyards and Pine Barrens. Golf vacation packages are available.

Hiking

In Brigantine, just a few miles from Atlantic City is the Brigantine Island Trail. It is a great trail to take the kids and the dog. It is almost 4 miles long and takes you through some of the Pine Barrens habitats.
