This tool is extremely helpful. Now I accurately log my meals because we all carry our cell phones at all times - who wants to lug around a note pad or food journal to every meal?

PROBLEMS: I can't sync my iphone with data entered from a computer to my account. Only data entered on the iphone are viewable from the iphone! I tried deleting the app and reinstall - no fix. So the iPhone app uploads, but can't download to the phone. Also, I'd like to see my top 10 or 20 most frequent foods and workout items stored on the phone automatically so I dont need to sit and wait for the app to "connect to server" for every single darn entry!

Otherwise, great app - look forward to fix and updates - PLEASE KEEP IT FREE!

Hi there,

Thanks for all the comments!

Right now, foods, fitness, and weight you track on the iPhone app will sync back to your account here on the site. BUT, items you track on the site will *not* sync back to the iPhone/iPod.

We recognize that's a big feature, and this bidirectional syncing will come in the next (free!) update to the app, do soon. Stay tuned!

Thank you! I came to this here comment section just to gripe about this issue... No there is no need! So since i have to say something now... I love the app, and the price!

I had been wondering if we'd see a Daily Plate app, and am pleased you have created it!

Now, I will wait patiently for the sync to go both ways!

great app, but still has stability issues.

it would also be nice to be able to select when we'd like to sync rather than syncing every time we add a new entry.

This is great app! It makes it so much easier to track my info and to stick with the plan. The only problem I am experiencing is that it seems like the app often shuts down in the middle of doing a search and takes me back to the main iPhone window. It would also be nice if I could access my saved meals and saved workouts. Thanks for making this available!

I love this program but it kicks me out a lot. I started tracking my info on the web site instead but I still want to sync it to my iphone for the times that I can access the app. Is there a way to sync it from the WebSite to your iphone? I can't figure that out... I tried syncing from my iphone but it doesn't load the info I inputted on the web site. =( Please fix the bugs!

I'm fairly happy with the iPhone app. It has the best search function I've found so far among the various iPhone diet programs and does most of what I want.

There are a few improvements I'd like to see:

1. It doesn't work when you aren't on the network. I would rather it keep the database on the phone (or maybe the 40% most popular items) so that I can use it when I eat someplace without good cellphone reception. There are a LOT of places without coverage (the subway, for ex). Also, having an off-line database would make searches faster (i.e. display local results then connect to the network)

2. It is slow to start. It is a sad fact that I'm more likely to input what I'm about to eat if I can get to the screen to enter calories without delay. For example, on my iPhone it is one of the 4 apps that appears at the bottom of the app menu. That saves me a few seconds. Sadly the app starts slowly. The startup screen seems to hang forever before it gets me to the menu. I'd like an option to have it start at the "Food" screen.

3. On the theme of making data entry faster, it would be nice if the "fitness" menu listed most recent items. I do the same walk every day... let me select it with one click.

4. last, I've always wondered why no diet software does this. I think it would be a killer feature. It should prompt with certain foods. Like, if I just entered anything that is "cereal", it should ask "did you add milk?" and give the option of 1 cup of non-fat, low-fact, or whole milk. One click! Similar for sandwich meat (ask about bread), etc. I'm sure people could come up with dozens of useful combos like that. It would make data entry so much smoother (and therefore, make people more likely to do it)

All of these requests have a similar theme: make it easier to enter data so that I'm more likely to stick with the program. (hey, at least I didn't ask for the ability to take a picture of a food and have it tell me the calories!)

Thanks!
--Tom

I can live with the speed though. I also agree with the other person who mentioned it would be great if your recent fitness entries came up when logging your fitness - I have similar entries on multiple days and it would save me time. Thanks - overall I really like your product

I'm new to LS and the iPhone. I actually joined LS because of this application, and I've had a very positive experience with both the site and the app.

I would like to see my custom meals transfer over from the site to the iPhone app. Also, deleting an item on the site does not delete it from the app. The latter is something I can live with but the former is a feature that needs updating.

I agree with jamie on this. I would like for the custom meals to work on the ipod touch/iphone as well. If I am not mistaken, if you sync in the LS app, the meals will delete. Although I haven't tried that yet, so I may be wrong.

I've been having some real problems with the app crashing frequently since the last update. I also notice that the main website has had a couple of updates/changes. Is this causing issues with the iPhone app on syncing. Its frustrating as I am now having to log directly onto the website on my iPhone rather than use the app as it is too unreliable. I think its great and have lost 12 pounds since I started using it at the start of Feb. Much of my success is because the iPhone app makes it so easy to track my calories. Please fix!

I love this app for he iphone so far. I actually started with that b/c I have it with me all day, and now am bulking up my online profile. I have the same complaint about the syncing as everyone mentioned above. And I'd like to see the most recent fitness activities listed too. The create a meal feature is great! One complaint about the online version I noticed right away. The 'my plate' page is a little busy - too much text at the top, not enough bold print, too much info on the sides. I love how streamlined it looks on the iphone and would like a similar simpler look for the online version. Overall, great idea, so glad I found this to keep me accountable!!

No matter what I do, I can't get the app to synch either way!
I can see my meals that I have created on the website, so I guess some info must be getting through, but no synching of excercise OR foods I have eaten! I need to track my protein intake especially, so if it doesn't synch to the web page it is virtually useless to me...

This is very frustrating - especially since the website itself is great - but I did just "pay" for an app that doesn't seem to work!

Very unimpressed... If I hadn't paid for it, I'd be deleting it right now.

I love this app! I have no syncing problems, but I have a few feature/bugs requests:

1)Show calories ate, its only shown as a percent in progress on the "Today" screen - I must manually subtract my goal from remaining to find it.
2) Cannot enter food for yesterday, only today. If you change days and then goto foods, it still adds them to today.
3) Allow me to select foods from "Today" and add them AGAIN to todays menu. I.E I can goto yesterday and add the food for today when i'm eating leftovers.

Ive been using Loseit (FREE) for several months now and enjoy its easy to use interface with the ability to add custom foods and veiw reports. I decided to try Calorie Tracker because of its advertised more extensive database. Im disappointed that Calorie Tracker does not include better reporting (without having to login to the website) so you can get more immediate feedback on your nutrient percentages, the protein/carb/fat ratio. Add this, and add the ability to track the glasses of water similar to on the website, and you would have an app worth the $3.
