Information on Women's Rogaine

Women's Rogaine is a topical solution used to treat androgenic alopecia, or hereditary hair loss, in women. Minoxidil, the active ingredient in Women's Rogaine, is the only FDA-approved medication to treat hereditary hair loss in women and is clinically proven to regrow hair. Women's Rogaine is available without a prescription.

Dosage and Administration

Using the supplied dropper, measure 1 mL of Women's Rogaine and apply it directly to the affected area of your scalp twice a day. Massage the solution throughout the area. Your hair must be towel dry before applying Women's Rogaine.

Results

You may see an increase in hair loss during the first two weeks of use; this is normal. Call your doctor if it goes on any longer than two weeks. It will take at least four months of using Women's Rogaine twice a day as directed before you see significant results. If you stop using Women's Rogaine, you will begin to see hair loss again within three to four months.

Ingredients

Women's Rogaine contains minoxidil, alcohol, propylene glycol and purified water. According to the manufacturer, the active ingredient minoxidil works to promote hair growth by increasing the size of hair follicles.

Side Effects

Possible side effects include scalp dryness, itching or irritation. Some women may develop unwanted facial hair. If you experience these or any other side effects, discontinue using the product and contact your doctor.

Warnings

Make sure you tell your doctor if you have heart disease or high blood pressure. Do not apply Women's Rogaine if your scalp is irritated or sunburned. Do not use Women's Rogaine if you are pregnant or nursing. Do not use more than the recommended dose; doing so will not make your hair grow faster. Keep products containing minoxidil away from cats because minoxidil exposure can cause death or serious health problems.
