Take a Hike
Muir Woods National Monument, located just 11 miles north of the Golden Gate Bridge, fits the description of its namesake, "This is the best tree-lovers monument that could possibly be found in all the forests of the world," according to John Muir. You can spend between 30 to 90 minutes hiking the various trails that make up the 6-mile trail system within Muir Woods. For the more adventurous, you can begin at Muir Woods and follow trails extending into neighboring parks.
Seek a Thrill
Six Flags Discovery Kingdom offers thrills for young and old alike. With roller coasters, rides and animal shows, you can tame coasters such as Kong or Medusa or tame a tiger. Just a short 30-mile drive from San Francisco via the Bay Bridge, your group will enjoy the variety of this amusement park.

Explore History and Nature
Point Reyes National Seashore provides activities from elephant seal and whale watching to hiking, biking, kayaking, camping and horse riding. The park also includes the Point Reyes Lighthouse. This historic beacon was built in 1870 to guide sailors along the windiest spot on the Pacific Coast and one of the foggiest locations in North America. Get ready for a workout. The path to the lighthouse includes 308 stairs down and 308 stairs back. Point Reyes National Seashore is about 30 miles north of San Francisco on Highway 1.
