Downtown Miami is filled with sites, restaurants and shops. For visitors who are interested in staying active while in downtown Miami, you are in luck. The downtown area of this South Florida city has numerous activities including water sports, biking adventures and trails through city parks to keep you moving.

Water Sports

A wonderful way to enjoy the water around downtown Miami is by heading out on a board. Sailboards Miami, which is located at Windsurfer Beach in downtown, provides lessons and rentals for windsurfing, kayaking and paddle boarding. The waters off downtown Miami provide views of Coconut Grove, Downtown Miami and Biscayne Bay.

Biking

Located in Downtown Miami's Bayside Marketplace, Bike and Roll offers bike rentals and provides daily guided tours. Bikes include hybrids, children bikes, mountain bikes, road bikes and tandem bikes. Miami is known as being a year-round biking paradise. A biking tour would take you past the major sites of downtown Miami, across the causeway and around Miami Beach. The company provides a variety of customizable tours, including an art deco tour, early bird tour, Miami River tour and a combined bike and kayak tour.

Trapeze

If you are looking for an adrenaline rush, look no further than trapeze lessons in the Bayfront Park with the Flying Trapeze School. This fun activity will have you up flying through the warm Miami air in a safe and relaxed environment. The trapeze school provides lessons for novice or seasoned flyers. The classes are designed for individuals of all ages and abilities, and focus on safety and the essentials of flying trapeze. Students will learn tricks such as flips and being caught by a catcher.

Swimming

Cool off after a day in the sun at the public Jose Marti Pool in downtown Miami. This 25-meter outdoor swimming pool is heated and kept at 84 degrees Fahrenheit year-round. The pool is popular with lap swimmers and masters swim teams. In addition to the outdoor swimming pool, the Jose Marti Park includes two playgrounds, a baseball field and four basketball courts.

Park

Visit the downtown Simpson Park, which features a nature preserve with several trails that get you out into the open air. This 100-year-old park used to be known as Jungle Park because of the subtropical environment visitors will find upon entering. The eight-acre park has paths that wind around the urban landscape architecture created by Enzo Enea and Chad Oppenheim. There is an abundance of animals, including snakes, reptiles and lizards, living amongst the tropical trees.
