The best eye concealer has an even texture, provides lots of coverage without being cakey, and doesn't form creases, according to makeup expert Paula Begoun in her book, "Don't Go to the Cosmetics Counter Without Me." Concealer can help hide flaws in the eye area like fine lines. Several specific types can also help you banish dark under-eye circles for an instantly perkier, more energized complexion.

Physicians Formula Mineral Wear Talc-Free Mineral Correcting Concealer

You don't need to spend a lot of money on a quality dark circle-camouflaging concealer. Physicians Formula's mineral-based, three-step concealer kit was ranked by InStyle magazine's beauty editors as one of spring 2010's must-have items, and it costs less than $10. They love how the kit's three different shades help hide your dark circles, disguise blemishes and highlight your eyes for a brighter look.

L'Oreal Paris True Match Concealer

Begoun rates L'Oreal Paris's product as one of the top drugstore-brand liquid concealers available. She says it's "truly a beautiful liquid concealer," and liked how it blended easily and helped high dark circles and lines without creasing or feeling heavy. She notes that most of the concealer's various shades are best for skin tones ranging from medium to light, though a couple are available for skin tones outside of this range.

Clé de Peau Beauté Concealer

The fashion editors at InStyle magazine called the Clé de Peau Beauté Concealer the best under-eye concealer for those wanting to cover up dark circles. The magazine says it's perfect for "insomniacs and new moms." It comes in stick form that you smear on and blend in, and has four different shades to help match all skin tones. It can be used in areas beyond your eyes, like to camouflage age spots on your cheeks for a more balanced complexion.

Lancome Maquicomplet et Eclat Eye Brightening Concealer

Lancome's Maquicomplet concealer is the best concealer for highlighting and brightening the skin under your eyes, according to Begoun. She writes that it goes on with a smooth texture and has a matte finish that "leaves a soft, lit-from-within glow." It also includes moisturizers and antioxidants to help condition your skin's health and shield against skin damage that may contribute to fine lines and darker under-eye circles.
