In today's world, losing weight has become a top priority, since being overweight or obese increases the risk for several health problems. In order to increase weight loss, research indicates that making healthy additions to your weight loss plan can help you reach your goals.

Eat Fruit

Besides being low in calories and packed with nutrients, fruit also has fat burning properties. A study published in "Nutrition," had subjects receive one of the following dietary supplements: apples; oat cookies; or pears. All subjects followed the same reduce calorie diet. Scientists cited that the fruit group lost more body fat compared to the oat group. Furthermore, researchers found that the fruit group had greater decreases in blood sugar than the oat group. According to "Nutrition and Metabolism," researchers reported that subjects with marginal vitamin C levels burned less fat during exercise than those with adequate vitamin C levels. Consume fat burning fruits such as apples, pears and oranges.

Eat Dairy

Research indicates that following a dairy rich diet boosts fat loss. According to the Science Daily website, researchers discovered that the addition of vitamin D to a calorie restricted diet augmented weight loss, especially in the abdominal region. In a different study published in "Obesity Research," subjects increasing calcium intake on a lower calorie diet experienced more fat loss than those who didn't take calcium.

CLA

Conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) is a healthy fat that promotes fat loss. According to the "British Journal of Nutrition," subjects supplementing with CLA had a greater reduction in body fat mass than a placebo. Moreover, the CLA group decreased their waist-hip ratio circumference. Similar results were documented in the "Journal of Nutrition." Subjects ingesting CLA for 24 months decreased their body fat mass.

Low Carb Diet

Research shows that a low carb diet is effective for stripping away body fat. In a study published in the "Journal of the American Medical Association," subjects following the Atkins low carb diet for 12 months lost more weight compared to other popular diets.
