Jensen Beach is located in southeastern Florida, just east of Port St. Lucie. The town is ideally located, as it is very close to Savannas Preserve State Park, North Fork St. Lucie River Aquatic Preserve and Indian River Park in the nearby town of Ocean Breeze Park. The Intracoastal Waterway also passes right by Jensen Beach. With so many nearby parks, you will find you can enjoy many recreational outdoor activities while visiting Jensen Beach.

Hiking and Running

If you are a hiker or a trail runner, you can stretch your legs at the nearby Savannas Preserve State Park. Savannas Preserve has many miles of trails that meander through the park's freshwater marshes. These marshes are currently considered the largest and most intact example of the savannas that were once found all along Florida's east coast.

Horseback Riding

If you'd like to do some horseback riding, then Savannas Preserve State Park also has trails to accommodate you. There is also a specially designated equestrian area in the park where you can park your horse trailer.

Canoeing & Kayaking

With so much nearby water, Jensen Beach is ideally suited for you to enjoy canoeing or kayaking. The North Fork St. Lucie Aquatic Preserve has four public boat ramps from which you can launch your boat. Savannas Preserve State Park will also allow you to launch your canoe or kayak into its waters, and even offers canoe and kayak tours on Thursdays and Saturdays. Two other places you may want to kayak are the Intracoastal Waterway and the Atlantic Ocean. The Atlantic is just a short drive over the Jensen Beach Causeway Bridge to Hutchinson Island.

Fishing

You'll also find plenty of places to go fishing in and around Jensen Beach. North Fork St. Lucie River Aquatic Preserve allows catch-and-release fishing, while Savannas Preserve State Park allows you to keep what you catch. If you drive over to Hutchinson Island you can spend some time surf fishing. Jensen also has many nearby marinas and boat ramps where you can launch your fishing boat. If you want to spend some time out on the water fishing but don't have a boat of your own, then charter one of the local fishing tours.

Bicycling

Savannas Preserve State Park also has trails that you can explore by bicycle. Some of these trails may be mixed use with hikers and horseback riders, so use caution and ride safely at all times.

Swimming

Swimming is another activity that you can readily participate in while visiting Jensen Beach. You are allowed to swim at both the North Fork St. Lucie River Aquatic Preserve and at Indian Riverside Park. You can also go for a swim in the Atlantic Ocean by merely taking a short drive over to Hutchinson Island's beaches.
