Often sold alongside massage chairs and electric foot rubs, vibrating massage belts are popular among individuals seeking a cure to sore muscles. While there are currently no studies pointing to the specific benefits of electronic massaging belts, proponents claim that the pulsating devices can help soothe sore and achy muscles throughout the waist, thighs and hips, and can lead to reduced symptoms of lower back pain. Vibrating massage belts easily wrap around sore muscle areas and often come with different massage settings that gradually increase with intensity. With patience and a keen eye for detail, practically anyone can learn to use a vibrating massage belt.

Step 1

Locate the battery compartment of your massage belt and insert the required type of battery into the unit. If your massage belt comes with an electrical plug, locate an operating three-pronged Edison outlet in your house and plug the unit in.

Step 2

Sit or lie on a comfortable surface and unfasten the ends of the massage belt so that it is fully opened. Place the belt immediately over your hipbones, or painful area, so that the belt's logo is positioned right side up just below your navel. Attach the Velcro straps to the corresponding pads on the belt and make sure the massage belt is secure.

Step 3

Turn on the remote control device connected to the belt, and locate the different massage settings. Notice whether your unit uses an LCD screen with a keypad for choosing massage levels or a series of push buttons. Activate the setting for the gentlest massage level.

Step 4

Align your posture so that your back and spine are perfectly straight, and increase the massage settings until you reach the desired intensity. Set a timer for 10 minutes, and relax the muscles surrounding the massage belt in order to receive the greatest benefit.

Step 5

Remove the belt from your hips by pulling apart the Velcro straps. Attach the belt to any other muscle group that is experiencing sore, achy symptoms, such as an arm, shoulder, neck, leg or other area. Repeat the steps until each painful muscle group has been massaged for 10 minutes.
