Cleveland has an ongoing love affair with water. From spring through fall there are numerous places to rent sailboats, power boats, jet skis and water skis. Outdoor Recreation
Cleveland has even more parks than it does beaches, which means everyone can find something they love doing. Bike beside the lake or through miles of trails. Hike through the woods or watch the birds and other wildlife at Cleveland Lakefront/Headlands Beach State Parks. Located throughout the Cleveland area, Cleveland Metroparks offer miles of trails, rivers and plenty of peaceful, natural beauty. For a more high-tech outdoor adventure, try geocaching in one of the Cleveland Metroparks.
There is also the Cuyahoga Valley National Park (CVNP). Open year-round, CVNP offers hikes around the lake trails, a picnic area with grills and hiking trails. During the winter you can rent ice skates, cross-country skis and even snowshoes at the Kendall Lake Winter Sports Center. Go sledding or tubing, and warm up afterward near the center's big hearth fire.
Sightseeing
Trolley tours and Lake Erie sightseeing cruises offer a wonderful chance to see a sampling of the whole city. Other Cleveland landmarks to visit include NASA's John H. Glenn Research Center, the mansions of the Western Reserve Historical Society, the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo and the Great Lakes Science Center.
Culture
Cleveland is a cultural center, and you could spend days trying to see everything. When you have tired of outdoor fun, why not try a few of the museums Cleveland has to offer? The city boasts a number of art museums, including the Cleveland Museum of Art and the Museum of Contemporary Art; the Cleveland Museum of Natural History; the Cleveland Children's Museum; the African-American Museum; and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, among others. If you are a music lover, drop by the Blossom Music Center to hear the Cleveland Orchestra, or visit the Cleveland Chamber Symphony.
Eating
Cleveland provides a wide range of options when it comes to healthy eating. For a quick, healthy snack, stop by one of Cleveland's many natural foods stores, from small independent co-ops to large, well-known chains such as Whole Foods. There are more than 20 area farmers' markets, some year-round, where you can buy farm-fresh vegetables, fruit and meat as well as baked goods and preserves. For a fun night out on the town, downtown Cleveland boasts numerous Vegan, vegetarian and organic restaurants of all different varieties.
