Located on Maryland's eastern shore, St. Michael's is a waterfront town rich in history and loaded with activities to suit a range of visitors. Tourists can explore the town's revolutionary history and 18th-century landmarks or indulge in 21st-century-style relaxation while taking in the views of the picturesque town.

Self-Guided Walking Tour

Thirty historical landmarks from the 18th and early 20th centuries are located along a self-guided walking tour known as the St. Mary's Square walking tour, according to stmichaels.org. As the name suggests, the tour begins in St. Mary's Square, which was part of the town's original plan developed by its founder, James Braddock in 1778, according to stmichaels.org. Other points along the tour include the Union United Methodist Church, built in 1895, the Chesapeake Maritime Museum and Hell's Crossing, a spot known for frequent fights from water men heading back to their boats after a night out, according to stmichaels.org.

Boat Cruise

Learn about the history of St. Michaels by taking a narrated boat tour. Patriot Cruises offers daily cruises that depart from the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum, according to patriotcruises.com. The charter may be able to provide pickup from a hotel or waterfront inn, according to the website.
