Located in southeastern Florida, Miami attracts more than 10 million visitors each year. Warm year-round temperatures averaging 75 degrees, miles of beaches and a close proximity to the Florida Evergreens lure tourists who enjoy outdoor activities. The city's South Beach district is internationally known for its haute couture shopping, fine dining, cultural establishments and nightlife. Although couples and groups often visit the city for an exciting getaway, solo travelers will find a wide variety of activities to make their stays fun and enjoyable as well.

Hit the Beach

The year-long beautiful weather makes Miami a perfect location for the beach lover. In addition to being a great place for star-spotting, the famed South Beach also offers great walking trails and a volleyball culture perfect for the solo traveler seeking to join a pick-up game. If you're interested in water sports, central and north Miami Beach both feature several water sport equipment rental booths. A local favorite is Haulover Beach Park which offers a nine-hole golf course and an area dedicated to kite flying. You can pick up a beginner's kite flying kit from the onsite kite shop.

Guided Sightseeing Tours

Miami provides a wide variety of guided sightseeing tours to meet every type of interest. Solo visitors interested in nature can take a guided tram or boat tour of the National Everglades Park. Tourists interested in architecture can find several walking and bus tours that explore Miami's diverse architectural history, with an emphasis on the iconic Miami Art Deco style.

Fishing

Miami offers fishing enthusiasts the opportunity at both deep sea and shallow water flats fishing. If your budget permits, you can charter a half or whole day on a private fishing boat. For the budget conscious, party fishing boats allow you to share the cost with several other people, giving you a chance to try your hand at catching shark, tarpon, snook, redfish and sea trout.

Restore Yourself

Miami offers some of the world's best spa experiences. The Standard Hotel and Spa in Miami Beach, for example, was named Conde Nast Traveller's "Favourite hotel spa in the Americas & Caribbean." The Standard has a unique hydrotherapy focus with a communal mud lounge, Roman waterfall hot tub and a sound pool. Other spa facilities emphasize healing, and restoring a healthy mind-body connection, with beach-side yoga, movement and meditation classes, as well as wellness services such as acupuncture and Ayurvedic massage. These services can also be purchased a la carte by visitors who are not hotel guests.

Wildlife Encounters

Expand your knowledge and work your body at the same time by visiting some of Miami's wildlife attractions. Take a guided walking tour of the 30-acre primate reserve, Monkey Jungle, to learn about the more than 400 different primates who call the reserve home. The city's aquarium allows visitors to swim with dolphins. Dolphin World also offers a variety of dolphin encounter opportunities ranging from a 20-minute swim to a full day encounter.
