Snoring doesn't just cause problems for people who sleep within earshot of the loud, harsh breathing. It can also be a sign of respiratory illness or sleep apnea. Fortunately, there are some herbal remedies that might be helpful in treating this condition providing relief for the sufferer as well as friends and family members.
Jasmine
Essential oil made from the extract of the sweet-smelling jasmine flower is used as an herbal remedy for snoring that is caused by congestion. To use this remedy, try rubbing jasmine essential oil on the chest or nose before going to sleep at night. However, according to the website Organic Facts, pregnant women should avoid using this remedy since it is an emenagogue, which means it stimulates blood flow to the pelvic area and could cause premature labor.
Echinacea

According to the University of Maryland Medical Center, echinacea is effective in reducing the possibility of getting a cold. The University of Maryland Medical Center recommends that echinacea be taken in the dosage of 300 mg three times a day.
