According to the University of Michigan Health System, warts can be caused by a type of human papilloma virus, or HPV. Warts can occur anywhere on the body and can sometimes cause pain and discomfort. There are a number of over-the-counter treatments used to remove warts, but they often contain harsh chemicals. However, there are a few more natural ways to remove warts that may be safer.
Vinegar
Due to the acidity in vinegar, it can be very useful in treating warts. According to the Vinegar Institute, a preparation of warm or lukewarm water with a cup of white distilled vinegar can be used to soak the body part containing the wart. This immersion should be done for at least 20 minutes a day. However, if the wart is in a place that cannot be immersed into the vinegar solution, try placing the vinegar solution onto a bandage and then affixing it to the wart for 20 minutes or more. This may take several weeks before the wart completely disappears. Vinegar can be found in the condiment section of your local grocery store.
Banana Peel
Banana peels are high in potassium and are therefore very useful in treating warts because some warts are caused by low potassium. According to the University of Maryland Medical Center, cutting a piece of banana peel and affixing with tape to the area of the wart is an effective way to remove warts. Let the bandage stay in place overnight. This procedure should be done on a daily basis. You should see a change in the appearance of the wart within a couple of weeks of using this method.
Cat's Claw
Cat's claw is an herbal remedy that contains antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal properties. As a result, cat's claw is an excellent natural remedy for the treatment of warts. According to the University of Maryland Medical Center, cat's claw can be taken in 20 mg pills, three times a day. Cat's claw is available for purchase at many large pharmacies or health food stores. Cat's claw works for various kinds of warts, including general warts, genital warts and even plantar warts.
