Homeopathic remedies address the individual symptoms of the patient, rather than the condition from which the patient is suffering. As a result, one condition could be addressed by several homeopathic remedies. A detailed list of all of the symptoms associated with a homeopathic remedy, called a symptom picture, forms the basis for selecting the precise homeopathic remedy for the patient based on the totality of the symptoms. The remedies take the name of the plant, animal or mineral substances from which they're derived, and generally are dispensed as sugar pellets that you dissolve underneath your tongue.

Cocculus Indicus

Vertigo--the uncomfortable sensation that things are spinning around you--can arise from a variety of causes. Motion sickness or jet lag that leads to vertigo often matches the symptom picture for cocculus. This remedy may apply when vertigo is accompanied by nausea, confusion or a sick headache. The feeling worsens with eating and drinking, bright light and getting up out of bed but is often relieved by lying down. If you have recurring or long-lasting bouts of vertigo, consult your health professional.

Moschus

The symptom picture for the homeopathic remedy moschus includes vertigo that occurs with the slightest movement. You may feel as if you're falling from an extreme height or experience sessions of uncontrollable laughter. Vertigo that improves in the open air or worsens in the cold might suggest moschus.

Tabacum

Vertigo upon opening your eyes characterizes the tabacum picture. An intermittent pulse, paleness, giddiness and cold perspiration also suggest tabacum. Extremes of heat and cold worsen symptoms; fresh open air and uncovering improve them.

Conium Maculatum

In contrast to cocculus, vertigo symptoms that match conium are worse when lying down. Moving the head or turning over increase the feeling of vertigo in the conium picture. The feeling of something underneath your skull and tightness in your temples may also indicate a remedy of conium.

Aconitum Napellus

Aconitum napellus. or aconite, potentially matches vertigo that worsens upon rising. Vertigo symptoms also worsen when you shake your head. The overall aconite picture involves a high state of fear and anxiety and a fast onset of symptoms. Fever and heart palpitations commonly occur in the aconite picture.

Camphora

If your vertigo tends to cause you to faint or to feel as if you might die, your symptoms might indicate camphora. The symptom picture for this remedy involves icy coldness throughout the entire body with a concurrent aversion to being covered. The symptoms are worse at night, with motion or touch, and in the cold air.

Digitalis Purpurea

The digitalis symptom picture usually includes cardiac symptoms--even some conventional heart medications derive from the digitalis plant. With homeopathic digitalis, dim vision and vertigo run concurrently and occur when walking and rising. Sitting up aggravates symptoms, while an empty stomach and open air decrease them.
