If you are a teen who is dating, you may be looking for something fun or exciting to do on your next date. Some of the more expected date ideas include dinner and a movie. Instead of making your date mainstream, place a twist on old traditions to make them more fun and interesting. Take the initiative and ask your date what some of her hobbies or interests are and try to base your date from there.

Dinner

While most teens take in dinner on their date, try to make it fun by trying something new. Choose a restaurant with a theme such as 1950s or sci-fi. This will initiate conversation and create a fun and relaxed atmosphere. Restaurants that also have games and movies, such as Dave and Busters, are great date locations for teens, although keep in mind that at many locations you must be at least 18 or accompanied by an adult to enter. Purchase playing tickets with your meal so you can eat and play games, such as Skee-Ball, foose ball, video games and challenge games. This also serves as a good icebreaker for those tense moments. Friendly competition can draw two people together and give you a good indication for ideas of future dates. Another option would be a simple picnic in the park or at your favorite outdoor location. Pack a picnic lunch in the evening and relax while you watch a movie at the park pavilion.

Indoor Activities

Choose an indoor activity that is fun and engaging. The Teenagers Guide to the real world suggests that museums of art or science offer a great way to spend time together while stimulating the mind and conversation. Many museums offer themed exhibits that may be of special interest to teens and young adults. This could include automobiles, robotics and art exhibits. Indoor rock climbing is another activity that some teens enjoy. In a safe environment you can compete against each other using endurance, balance and problem-solving skills. A stadium concert is also a fun dating option. Choose a band that you both love and enjoy an evening full of music and excitement.

Outdoor Activities

Playing a sport for a date is a fun way to remain competitive and get to know each other in a different way. A game of golf, croquet, tennis or racquetball are great ways to have a date in relaxed setting. For less athletic choices, a zoo makes for a great date, such as the Smithsonian National Zoological Park in Washington, D.C. Most zoos are packed with animal exhibits and trails that are interesting to the teen audience. The zoo is a great place to do plenty of funny picture taking, with the animals and in the playgrounds, which are generally animal themed. A zoo also has several picnic areas and garden locations where you can step away from the crowds and enjoy getting to know each other in a tranquil setting.
Amusement parks can include a day full of thrill rides and the carnival scent at night. Most amusement parks have restaurants and picnic areas so you can spend the entire day at one location.
