Many people like to use push-up bars, handles that allow you to perform a push-up without having to place a great deal of pressure on the wrists. The Perfect Pushup takes the push-up handles a step further by putting them on a rotating base, allowing you to rotate your hands throughout the movement. This is a more natural movement for the shoulder and helps to increase the amount of muscle used to perform a push-up.

Staggered Pushup

Using the Perfect Pushup to perform push-ups seems pretty obvious, but what many people don't think about is using it for the many different types of push-ups. One example is the staggered push-up, which has the hands at different levels, one in the standard position, and the other about 6 inches lower. By doing this you change the way the body has to work to complete the exercise--one side will require more chest and shoulder, the other will use more arms.

Overhead Press

The Perfect Pushup can even be used to perform a body-weight overhead press. Place the handles on the ground as if you were going to do a standard push-up. Grip them as you normally would, but shift your weight forward and bend at the waist. Your body should be in an inverted "v," with as much of your weight over your hands as you can handle. Slowly bend the elbows and lower your head toward the ground; once your elbows reach 90 degrees (or your head touches the ground), push yourself back up until your arms are straight.

Bench Dips

Using a bench or a pair of sturdy chairs, the Perfect Pushup handles can be turned into dip handles. Place the handles on the edge of the bench shoulder-width apart and grip the handlebars behind you so that your body is facing away from the bench. Extend your legs out in front of you so that your hands are supporting your weight. Slowly bend the elbows until they reach 90 degrees, then push yourself back up using the muscles in your arms.
