There are a number of causes for frizzy hair and it can strike any kind of hair and style, according to DamagedHair.net. Genetics play one role in the condition of hair and often dictates the kinds of treatments you need to avoid the frizzies. People with coarse hair tend to get frizzy more easily than those with fine hair. Frizzies also attack those in certain climates more often; particularly humid environments can wreak havoc on the hair. With the proper care however, you can avoid the frizzies or tame them once they hit.

Treat Hair Carefully

You should treat your hair like fine lace and handle it very carefully. One of the first things you can do to manage potentially frizzy hair is to gently dry it after washing. Wring hair and pat it dry with a towel, rather than roughly toweling it dry, to avoid breakage. Once the ends become split, they cannot be repaired. A split end travels up the hair shaft all the way to the follicle and will appear frizzy. Air dry your hair whenever possible to avoid heat damage. Hair dryers and curling irons damage hair and can cause it to frizz. Air drying allows the natural oils in the hairs to seal and keeps them smooth.

Apply Hair Products

Coarse hair is often curly and prone to the frizzies. When purchasing hair products, look for those that target curly hair. Consider products that add moisturizer to your hair in addition to control. Dab a small amount of pomade in one palm and rub your hands together. Run your hands through and over your hair before you style it to tame wild, curly hair that turns frizzy during the day. Use your fingers to spread the product evenly on the individual hairs. When you know you'll be exposed to more humidity, use a little more of the taming product. Avoid straightening products that will damage your hair with the chemicals and instead look for hairstyles that embrace your curls and coarseness.

Condition

Conditioner is one of the primary solutions for frizzy hair. Use a leave-in conditioner on particularly humid days. Periodically give your hair a deep conditioning treatment. You may develop buildup from other taming products throughout the week, so use a cream-based solution to deep condition and remove excess product that does not always get washed out with shampooing. Use clarifying shampoo at least once a week as well to rid hair of excess hair products that can add to the frizziness. Try skipping a day or two between shampoos and simply rinse your hair with water. The fewer soaps and chemicals you add to your hair, the healthier it will remain and the fewer frizzies you'll experience.
